June 15th 2023 – Phoenix, AZ
This morning I took my CRF 300 Rally for a spin. It was my first ride on the bike.
I have been working on it since Sunday when my wife Katrine and I arrived in Phoenix, Arizona after an almost 24 hours journey from Denmark.
I enjoyed the little test ride on the bike. Besides running the occasional errand – like when we went to the DMV Monday to get the bikes plated – most of my time in Phoenix so far has been spent in the garage. Paul and Katrine check in on me from time to time. Paul has been good at lending me a hand – especially when it comes to electrical work, I’ve enjoyed his expertise and assistance. Now that my own bike is ready I’ve set to work on my Katrine’s – another CRF 300 Rally.
We picked up the bikes earlier this year – or rather our friend Paul picked them up for us.
Both are little over a year old and have around 6.000 miles on the clock. It’s clear that the previous owners have used the bikes for their intended purpose, but aside from a few battle scars they seem to be in pretty good nick.
Paul has stored the bikes for us. We are staying with him and his wife while we get the bikes and everything else ready to embark on an open ended journey with no fixed schedule or destination.
When I’m done setting up both bikes we’ll take them for a propper shakedown ride and I’ll subsequently service them to make sure they are 100% fit for fight before we head out in earnest.
Hopefully we’ll be able to leave Phoenix sometime next week. We’ll initially head north in search of slightly cooler temperatures.
